Dromleigh N.S. has proudly served the students of Kilmichael and beyond since 1840 and is one of the oldest schools in the country. The school has
been fortunate to have had significant extension and renovation works in recent years. We have state of the art classrooms, playing facilities and the latest advances in technology for students to engage with. We are a co-
educational primary school situated between the towns of Dunmanway and Macroom.
The school has a number of additional facilities on-site to support our students, their parents and carers. Dromleigh N.S. is serviced by the Bus Éireann School Transport Scheme. We also have Bright Beginnings Early
Education setting on site. Bright Beginnings is part of the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Scheme. The ECCE Scheme provides free care and education for pre-school children for three hours daily, five days a week, 38
weeks a year. The centre also offers after school care from 2pm daily.
Dromleigh N.S. has hard-working staff that foster a caring environment where each student and their family are welcomed, respected and encouraged to reach their full and individual potential.
Dromleigh N.S. school is governed under the patronage of the Bishop of Cork and Ross. The school is a safe space for students to feel valued. Our school prides ourselves in our sense of community where an ethos of fairness, tolerance and co-operation is cultivated.
The school strives to instil a love of learning in all of our students. This begins in the early years from our commitment to Aistear, the play-based
curriculum for young children, to our encouragement and support pupils of pupils to pursue extra-curricular interests in the arts, science and sport.
Dromleigh N.S. is set in an idyllic location with ample opportunity for students to explore nature all around us. The school is fortunate to be involved with the Green Flag programme from An Taisce and is proud to have a capable and confident student body involved with the initiative.
We pride ourselves in supporting the holistic development of our students.
The importance of the academic, social, emotional, spiritual and moral growth of students is at all times central to our teaching and learning.
